Amit Shah to visit Bengal on January 30; meeting scheduled with Matua community
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to visit West Bengal on January 30. During his visit, Shah will address the Matua community at a public rally in North 24 Parganas district.
Bangaon BJP MP Santanu Thakur has claimed that Home Minister Amit Shah will hold a meeting in Thakurnagar in January which is considered to be a stronghold of the Matua community.
The Matua community is an important votebank for the BJP as it has presence in over 20 assembly seats.
This will be Amit Shah's second two-day visit to West Bengal. In his last visit (on December 19-20), several TMC leaders including Suvendu Adhikari, joined the BJP.
Meanwhile, the Trinamool is also not sitting quietly after getting the news. The TMC is also preparing for a counter meeting.
Recently, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tried to win the hearts of the Matua community by holding a huge rally in Bangaon. Banerjee said, “The Matuas are citizens of this country and they do not need any other identity card.”
