Raju Srivastava dies at 58: Union ministers Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari and others mourn loss of the comedian

The stand-up comedian appeared in Hindi films such as 'Maine Pyar Kiya', 'Baazigar', 'Bombay to Goa' (remake) and 'Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiya'. He was one of the contestants on 'Bigg Boss' season three. He was the chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Film Development Council.

Stand-up comedian Raju Srivastava passes away at the age of 58. He was admitted to AIIMS Delhi on August 10 after the 58-year-old suffered chest pain and collapsed while working out at the gym. The comedian was placed on life support and moved right away to the ICU. He did not regain consciousness for more than a month despite rigorous efforts to save him.

As soon as the news of Raju's death broke, politicians and celebrities took to their social media handles to mourn the demise of the popular comedian.

The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highway Authorities, Nitin Gadkari, took to his twitter handle to offer condolences on Raju Srivastava's death.

In a tweet, the Union minister said, "Anguished to hear about the demise of Comedy Legend Raju Srivastav Ji. An Entertainer par Excellence, his mannerisms & observational comedy truly mirrored the daily life of us Indians. My condolences to his family members. Om Shanti"

 

BJP national president JP Nadda extended his condolences on the demise of comedian Raju Srivastava.

"Raju Srivastava is no more with us. I, on behalf of the people of UP, pray that his soul rests in peace. I extend my condolences to his family: Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath"

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh wrote, "I am deeply saddened by the passing away of renowned comedian, Raju Srivastava ji. Apart from being an accomplished artist, he was also a very lively person. He was also very active in the social field. I extend my condolences to his bereaved family and fans. Shanti!"

 

Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal also extended condolences to the comedian. Taking to Twitter, Kejriwal wrote, "Very sad to hear the demise of famous comedian Raju Srivastava ji. May God give place to the departed soul at his feet. My condolences to his family and all his fans in this time of sorrow."

 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, "Renowned comedian Raju Srivastava ji had a unique style, he impressed everyone with his amazing talent. His death is a great loss to the art world. I express my condolences to his family and fans. May God give them the strength to bear this grief. peace peace."

Raju Srivastava had carved a niche for himself in the world of stand-up comedy with his well-timed jokes and comic takes on some very relevant situations in life. He rose to fame with the first-of-its-kind stand-up comedy talent hunt show 'The Great Indian Laughter Challenge', with its first season premiering in the year 2005.
