The Taliban have said that religious scholars will lead the upcoming government in Afghanistan as their 20 years of struggle (Jihad) should not go in vain.

At a gathering in Kabul, the Taliban said that their 20 years of struggle should not go in vain and religious scholars should take the lead and be the core of the upcoming government in Afghanistan. The terror group had invited tens of religious scholars in a grand gathering to ask for their cooperation in forging a sound political system and inviting people to support the future government, Afghanistan's Khaama Press said on Monday.

The Taliban invited hundreds of religious scholars to a grand gathering to seek their cooperation in forging a sound political system and inviting people to support the future government.

Afghanistan Islamic Emirate spokesperson Zabiullah Mujahid said they are creating an all-inclusive government in which the rights of all people will be secured. “Irrespective of the partisan, lingual, and sectarian values, the people should come together and work for the development of Afghanistan as Afghans,” Khaama quoted him as saying.

Mujahid assured the former officials of the government to be secure to return to work and since they have announced a general amnesty, revenge will not be sought.

The Taliban and intra-Afghan leaders are in talks in an attempt to form a government.

Mujahid has denied accusations that the Taliban are smuggling weaponry and military vehicles to other countries.

Kabul fell at the hands of the Taliban on August 15, establishing the insurgents’ complete control of Afghanistan. Meanwhile, hours after Taliban entered the capital, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani fled the country stating that he left to avoid bloodshed.

Afghanistan is in total chaos as thousands still continue to flee from the clutches of the Taliban, as they fear for their lives and rights.
