After the Taliban called Pakistan their ‘second home’, the Pakistan government has made a huge admission on the militant group.

Pakistan Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid has admitted that Islamabad has long been the ‘custodian’ of the Taliban and Imran Khan-led Pakistan government has done everything for Taliban leaders, who are back in power in Afghanistan after 20 years.

“We are custodian of Taliban leaders. We have taken care of them for long. They got shelter, education and home in Pakistan. We have done everything for them," Rashid said while speaking on Hum News programme ‘Breaking Point with Malick’.

The interior minister’s statement comes after Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on August 28 said that Islamabad would continue to play a constructive role to support Afghanistan and a new government will be formed in the war-weary nation within a few days.

"We expect that a consensus government will be formed in the coming days in Afghanistan, Qureshi was quoted as saying by Geo News.

Earlier on Saturday, Imran Khan-led PTI's spokesperson Abdul Samad Yacoob openly admitted on live television that Taliban terrorists operate from Pakistan. Participating on Republic TV's debate, the PTI leader admitted that terrorists from Afghanistan often cross borders and operate from Waziristan, a Republic report stated.

"The Afghan-Pakistan border is always vulnerable whenever it comes to terrorism. Militants from Afghanistan sometimes cross the Pakistan border and operate from our Waziristan province," said Yacoob as quoted by Republic.

Notably, Rashid happens to be the same person who had once said Pakistan has the technology to develop ‘smart bombs’ that would kill only Hindus in India and spare the Muslims.

Meanwhile, under India's Presidency, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) adopted a strong resolution demanding that the territory of Afghanistan not be used to threaten any country or shelter terrorists.

India and the Taliban also held a meeting in Qatar over safety, security and early return of Indian nationals stranded over there. Deepak Mittal, Ambassador of India to Qatar held discussions with Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai, the head of the Taliban’s political office in Doha.
