'It is sacrilege': Venkaiah Naidu breaks down while condemning Rajya Sabha ruckus
Reminding members that a certain sanctity and sacredness is attached to the Chairman's chair, Naidu said that entering the sanctum sanctorum of the House itself was akin to sacrilege.
Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday slammed the behaviour of members of Opposition who created rucked in the Upper House yesterday.
An emotional Naidu declared that all sacredness of Rajya Sabha was destroyed on Tuesday when some MPs sat on the tables and some climbed on tables.
Naidu said that he had no words to convey his anguish and condemn such acts.
The Rajya Sabha Chairman said he could not understand the reason or provocation that led the House to witness such a low yesterday.
Reminding members that a certain sanctity and sacredness is attached to the Chairman's chair, Naidu said that entering the sanctum sanctorum of the House itself was akin to sacrilege.
Stating that such acts of sacrilege have been happening time and again, Naidu said he was distressed by the manner in which the sacredness was trampled upon by some members.Â
Opposition members sporting black bands staged protests against the government for trying to have a diluted debate on the farmers’ issue rather than repealing the three controversial farm laws.
Video of the pandemonium inside the Rajya Sabha showed Congress MP Pratap Singh Bajwa climbing onto the table and throwing a file at the Chairman's seat.Â
Also protesting were AAP MP Sanjay Singh, CPI-M MP V Sivadasan, CPI's Binoy Viswam and Congress MPs Ripun Bora and Rajamani Patel.
Rajya Sabha sources said that Naidu is set to take action against the MPs who created ruckus in Rajya Sabha.
