In view of the rising number of coronavirus cases in Maharashtra, Aurangabad district has imposed a complete lockdown on weekends. On weekdays, authorities have ordered a partial shutdown.

Night curfew has already been imposed from March 11, now along with a complete lockdown on weekends, under which markets, malls and cinema halls shall remain shut during the weekends.

The total number of Covid-19 cases in Aurangabad district is 57,755 including 5,569 active cases, till Friday.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra has imposed restrictions on several cities and towns, including Pune and Nagpur. The latest in the list are some suburban areas of Mumbai under the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation.

The municipal corporation here has announced lockdown until March 31 in the recognised hotspots. The lockdown is only restricted to these hotspots and at least five hotspots have been listed by the administration in its order.

Areas in Maharashtra that are under lockdown:

Aurangabad: Complete lockdown on weekends and from 11 pm to 7 am on other days. APMCs are also closed for the next seven days.

Nagpur: Lockdown from March 15 till 21. Essential services and industries to continue to function. Government offices in Nagpur will function with 25% capacity.

Pune: Night curfew from 11 pm to 6 am. Schools and colleges are shut till March 31. Hotels and bars are shut from 10 pm to 6 am. Gardens will also remain closed in the evening.

Nasik: Night curfew imposed from 7 pm to 7 am. A cap of 25-30 people at weddings and events. No marriages in halls after March 15. Hotels can remain open from 7 am till 9 pm with 50% capacity. Schools will remain closed. Religious places to remain closed on Saturday and Sunday.
