Sarahah app whats good and whats not

If you have suddenly starting seeing friends posting a reply to some anonymous messages they received, please be assured you are not the only one. It is the latest trend called the Sarahah app that has taken the Internet by storm.

Before we begin talking why it isn't the best place to be, let’s understand what's all the buzz about. Sarahah app is built by a Saudi Arabian developer and has now started entering other regions after going viral in the Middle East. It was originally a website that allowed employees to write anonymous feedback to their bosses, and in June it was turned into an app. It is available to download on both - Android and iOS.

Sarahah will let you send anonymous messages to people. So, you can tell that crush you haven't ever spoken to, or that enemy who has been on your hate list for a long time. You can tell them whatever you want, and yes, they won't know it is you. Remember, it also works the other way around.

How it works? You download the app, sign up and provide a user name, email ID, name and password. You can then share your profile on social networks, and once you do that, people can start sending in feedback. The feedback, means messages from people, but you won't know who has written it. Besides, you can simply send an anonymous message to anyone using the app. But, you can choose not to show up in search results.

Last week, we saw how the new Sarahah app started taking the Indian audiences by storm. Many saw their social timelines filled with friends giving into 'peer pressure' to use the app, posting witty responses to anonymous posts they received.

The intention of this app may have been conveying a message that some would never be able to do in person, something you wanted to do anonymously. For instance, you could have fun with a friend or tell someone to improve on an aspect or warn a friend about someone, and so on. But, it has far-fetching effects than being an app just for fun.

Some people can get really nasty and start trolling someone. And, imagine, if a group of bullies try to target a single person. No one wants to hear insensitive statements about them.

The Facebook post (seen above) has started floating online and clearly explains to what extend such cyber bullying can harm people. Not everyone is strong. And, it is not always necessary to follow the herd of trends. And, just in case you think you are in it looking for some genuine feedback, then don't be surprised to see anonymous haters who are happy to share bucket-load of hate messages.

Even for the sake of feedback, do you really care what people think about you? Also, if you need genuine feedback, why would you want it from nameless people, and not from your dear ones, friends and family.

It is also interesting to see how some are being bullied and choose to take a screenshot and type an answer to the nameless on social sites. That's a way to get back to all those haters, but also proves that how much their words matter to you.  At the end, it's a choice you can make. But, whatever it is, the truth is Sarahah screams 'cyber bully' out loud.
