Carlo Ancelotti managed Everton last season, as his side finished tenth in the English Premier League. He had managed Real Madrid between 2013-15, winning the UEFA Champions League on an occasion, while it would be his second term in the Spanish capital.

In what comes as a surprise, Real Madrid has roped in Carlo Ancelotti as its replacement manager for Zinedine Zidane. It would be the Italian's second term with Los Blancos.

The club announced the same on Tuesday night. "Real Madrid C. F. announces that Carlo Ancelotti will be the club's first-team coach for the next three seasons," it said in a statement.

Ancelotti was the manager of the English side Everton last season, having managed the side for a couple of seasons without any success. It managed to finish tenth this season.

Ancelotti previously managed Madrid between 2013-15. He helped the side win four titles during this stint, including the UEFA Champions League in 2013-14.

Ancelotti replaces Zidane, who left the club last week following a tough outing this season and failing to win a single trophy. It was also Zidane's second term as the Madrid manager, as he managed to win just a couple of titles in the latter, including the La Liga.
