Video emerges of SPG official intercepting mobile phone flung towards PM Modi during Kochi roadshow (WATCH)
A Twitter user shared the video of the SPG official intercepting the mobile device as Prime Minister walked down the street. This video has gone viral on social media, earning praise for the alert SPG official. Later, it was also learnt that another security guard gave the phone back to the owner.
Thousands had turned up to catch a glimpse of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his roadshow in Kerala's Kochi city, People showered flowers on the Prime Minister as he got off his armoured vehicle and thank people for their adulation.
The Special Protection Group guarding the Prime Minister had a tough task on their hand. While the Prime Minister was being showered with flowers from either side of the road, the SPG personnel kept a hawk-eye vigil on the perimeter.
And then something happened. Among the petals, a foreign object was hurled towards the Prime Minister. But the alert SPG official spotted it. Using his quick reflexes he was able to intercept the object before it reached his protectee.
The object turned out to be a mobile phone. It was later revealed that the phone had slipped out of the hands of a person while trying to shower flower petals at the Prime Minister.

Dressed in traditional Kerala attire, Modi initially began the roadshow on foot and waved to the people on both sides of the road along the route which was under a tight security net, with thousands of police personnel being deployed to ensure the PM's safety. People of all age groups from various parts of the state were lined up on both sides of the road, hours in advance, to welcome Modi and showered him with flowers.
To recall, during his Kerala visit, Prime Minister Modi launched the state's first Vande Bharat train and water metro. Kerala's first Vande Bharat train was launched on Tuesday. This train departs from the state capital Thiruvananthapuram and reaches Kasaragod on the Karnataka border. This train completes its journey in about eight hours. Due to this, the travel time between Kasaragod and Thiruvananthapuram, which was 11 hours earlier, will now be reduced to just eight hours. The Vande Bharat fare will start from Rs 1590 to Rs 2,815, depending on the different classes.
