Police in Maharashtra's Nashik has sent a notice to Union Minister Narayan Rane in connection with the First Information Report against him for allegedly threatening to slap Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

The Union Minister, who secured bail from a magistrate court at Mahad in Maharashtra's Raigad district after being arrested earlier in the day, has been asked to appear at the police station on September 2.

Rane was produced before Judicial Magistrate SS Patil at 9.45 pm during which the Maharashtra government pleader sought seven-day custody to probe the remarks.

He pleaded that a detailed probe was necessary to understand if there was a conspiracy to tarnish Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's reputation.

However, Rane's counsel argued that the charges against the Union Minister did not warrant his custodial interrogation.

They also claimed that Rane had sugar and blood pressure issues that needed constant monitoring.

After hearing the two sied, the magistrate granted bail to Rane and directed him to file a bail bond of Rs 15,000 with surety of like amount.

Besides Mahad and Nashik, there are two more FIRs against Rane -- one in Pune and another in Thane.

'Karara jawab milega'

The micro, small and medium enterprises minister was the first sitting central minister to be arrested in two decades. The last time such scenes were witnessed was back in 2001 when Murasoli Maran and TR Baalu were picked up in a midnight raid in Chennai by the Tamil Nadu Police.

Soon after Narayan Rane got bail, his son Nitesh posted a video on Twitter through which he apparently warned the Maharashtra government.

The video posted shortly after midnight was a scene from the movie 'Rajneeti'.

The scene shows actor Manoj Bajpayee warning adversaries that "Karara jawab milega (a strong answer will be delivered)."
