The war between two factions of Shiv Sena got a Bollywood twist on Tuesday after banners came up terming the rebel MLAs who are camped in the Radisson Blu five star hotel in Guwahati as 'Katappa' from the film 'Baahubali' who betrays the lead protagonist.

The banners posted by the Rashtravadi Yuvak Congress in Guwahati targetted the rebel MLAs and read, 'The entire nation is watching the traitors who are hiding in Guwahati. People will not forgive such cowards'.

Meanwhile, in the midst of ongoing mutiny, rebel Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde said that he will soon return to Mumbai, and rubbished Shiv Sena's claim that as many as 20 MLAs of his group are in touch with the Uddhav Thackeray-led party.

Briefing media persons outside the Radisson Blu hotel, Shinde claimed that he now had the support of 50 MLAs, all of whom had voluntarily come to him to take Hindutva forward.

Senior leaders in the Uddhav Thackeray camp have been claiming that around 20 Sena MLAs, who are currently with Shinde in Guwahati, wanted to return to Maharashtra and were in touch with them.

Meanwhile, even as the rebel MLAs consolidated their position to bring the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi government, the BJP is weighing its options.

BJP weighs its options

Former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis is in New Delhi where he is meeting top BJP leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, to decide upon the next course of action.

According to BJP sources, the BJP expects Sena rebels to make the first move by approaching Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari. The party doe not want to find itself in the embarrassing scenario it encountered in 2019 when Fadnavis formed a government with a faction of the NCP led by Ajit Pawar but had to resign two days later for lack of numbers.

The rebel Sena MLAs received a breather from the Supreme Court on Monday when it stayed the disqualification proceedings before the Maharashtra Assembly Deputy Speaker till July 11. The Apex court, however, refused to pass any interim order on conducting a floor test in the Assembly.
