<p>A recent study report issued by the Union ministry of environment, forest and climate change indicated that Nagarahole Tiger Reserve houses over 126 adult tigers within the protected area spanning across 644 square kilometres.</p>

<p>This indicates that 11.82 tigers roam around in the forests of Nagarahole considering each 100 sq km-area. In terms of density, Bandipur has 7.7 big cats per sq km.</p>

<p>Other forests and sanctuaries where tiger presence has been found in significant numbers include MM Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, Madikeri Wildlife Division, Madikeri Territorial Division, Virajpet Territorial Division, Koppa Wildlife Division, and Haliyal Forest Division which is part of Joida taluk of Uttara Karnataka district, among others.<br /> </p>
