India to chair UNSC anti-terror, Libya and Taliban sanctions committees

India's Ambassador the United Nations, TS Tirumurti has informed that the country will be chairing three important committees of the United Nations Security Council.

The three key committees include Taliban sanctions committee, counter-terrorism committee (for 2022) and the Libya sanctions committee.

India's eighth term as a non-permanent member of the UNSC began on Monday.

Ambassador Tirumurti said that chairing the counter-terrorism committee has a "special resonance for India which has not only been at the forefront of fighting terrorism especially cross border terrorism but has also been one of its biggest victims."
