The Border Security Force has intercepted a Chinese national along the Indo-Bangladesh border in the Malda district of West Bengal.

A BSF official said the individual -- identified as Junwei Han -- is being interrogated by the BSF, state police and intelligence agencies on the purpose of his entry into India.

"On being searched, one laptop, three mobile phones, Indian, Bangladeshi and US currencies, one Chinese Passport with Bangladeshi visa and a few electronic gadgets have been found in his possession," sources said.

However, the police said no complaint had been received at the Kaliachak police station till now. In January, a Chinese soldier was arrested south of the Pangong Tso at the Line of Actual Control. In October 2020, too, Indian troops had detained a Chinese soldier.
