Vatal Nagaraj holds protests, demands celebration of Tipu Jayanti

Bengaluru: Pro-Kannada activist Vatal Nagaraj held a protest in Bengaluru demanding celebration of Tipu Jayanti in the state. The BJP government in Karnataka recently cancelled the celebration of Tipu Jayanti. Chief Minister Yediyurappa issued a notice stating that the Tipu's birth anniversary that was being celebrated by the state government since 2015 was cancelled from this year. Vatal Nagaraj said that Tipu was a freedom fighter and the state should continue to celebrate his birth anniversary.
