PubliCity — BBMP turns blind eye to illegal construction in Whitefield, suffers Rs 16 crore loss
BBMP engineers’ lack of commitment and guts in taking acting against builders for violating building by-laws has resulted in an extra floor coming up at Whitefield. The extra floor is set to have caused a loss of Rs 16 crore loss to BBMP's exchequer but also may pose risks to buyers
Bengaluru: A recent incident of five innocent people getting killed in an under-construction apartment in Bengaluru East is still not enough for the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to crack a whip on builders violating its rules. Despite objections to an extra floor in an apartment in Whitefield, the builder has gone ahead with the construction and has caused Rs 16 crore loss to the BBMP's exchequer. The building Max-Sunflower at survey number 34/1 khata number 1235 belonging to one Susheela is said to have violated building by-laws and now have got a stay from the court to keep the BBMP away from taking any steps. However, the BBMP says it will take action.
