PubliCity — Bakrid 2019: BBMP talks tough against littering Bengaluru roads with animal waste

With the festival of sacrifice Bakrid being celebrated from August 11 to 13, over 600 large and thousands of small animals will be sacrificed and the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has a herculean task to ensure the animal waste gets disposed of systematically. The officials also have warned against illegal trade and slaughtering of animals.

Bengaluru: The big challenge ahead for the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is dealing with illegal animal trade, slaughtering and solid waste issue that has remained unsolved from the last several years. According to the BBMP officials, over 600 large animals and thousands of small animals will be slaughtered during Bakrid, from August 11 to 13. The BBMP has also formed teams to stop illegal animal trade and its slaughtering and also arranged for additional vehicles in Bengaluru’s east zone as tonnes of animal waste are expected to generate during Bakrid.
