IDAHOBIT 2019: Bengaluru event raises awareness on rights of queer community

The organisers of this event IDAHOBIT 2019 in Bengaluru came up with this concept to ensure children are taught everybody is different, and that it is normal to be different.

Bengaluru: The International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) was held on Friday (May 17) in the Bengaluru's Hotel Lalit Ashok to enlighten children that everybody is different, and it is normal to be different.

The event 'The Drag Queen Story Hour' by the Keshav Suri Foundation and Lalit Hotels was an attempt to raise awareness about the rights of the queer community and to create a better understanding.

Drag Queens Maya and Lady bai also read stories from the Elphie Book series that has been brought out for children by the Lalit Group. Elphie is a mascot of The Lalit Hotels and is a gender non-binary elephant.
