Karnataka: Cong burns effigy, demands resignation of Minister asking farmer to die for seeking more rice
BJP led Karnataka government which has few leaders known for 'foot in the mouth' business have once again caused irreparable damage to BS Yediyurappa's government.
This time it is Food and Civil Supplies minister Umesh Katti who asked a farmer to go and die after he dialled the minister asking him to raise the existing rice distribution quote of 2 kilo per person.
Farmer Eshwar alleged that the Minister behaved very rudely with him when he called.
It is said that, when Eshwar told Katti that the two kilo rice is not sufficient and asked the Minister whether he should die without food in this situation, to which Minister Katti reportedly said 'go and die'.
The opposition Congress took advantage of the situation and demanded resignation of the minister and also burnt his effigy in protest.
