Heavy rains lash parts of Karnataka: MeT department says depression over Karnataka and Maharashtra

People were caught by surprise as Karnataka recieved rainfall particularly in Bengaluru as February never witnesses rains.

As per Srinivas Reddy from Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Center, the average rainfall in February is only 2 millimeter.  As per experts it appears that the city has received more than average this time.

In Kodagu's Virajpet area, hailstorms were witnessed and commercial crops like coffee have been damaged.

Reddy said this is unseasonal rainfall and it happened due to low pressure over north interior Karnataka and Maharashtra, hence rains.

The experts also say that Karnataka may receive rains till February 21.
