Elephant goes on rampage, destroys house in tribal colony

A rogue elephant in Virajpet Taluk's Basavanahalli village in Maldare forest limits has caused terror by barging inside a tribal colony

The tribe was given shelter and land to dwell outside the forest area to give animals space and privacy. However, coming out of the forest has benefited them very little as frequent raids by elephant herds have put them in trouble.

In the latest case, the rogue elephant in Maldare forest range, Basavanahalli in Virajpet Taluk caused terror after it barged inside a house in the night and broke the door, damaged walls and consumed rice and other stocked food grains. The elephant also damaged the vessels in the house before it left.
