Coronavirus lockdown: Police deploy robot for surveillance in Chennai's containment area
The robot was specially built for the lockdown in four days jointly by the police, Robothoughts, SCI Fi Innovation, and Callidai Motorworks.
Chennai: Tamil Nadu Police have introduced a robot cop with multiple functions to handle people in containment areas. It can be controlled using a remote control and has a mounted camera for surveillance and can also interact with people staying in the area to spread awareness.
The machine called Robot Cop LD v5.0 was deployed in Meenambalpuram Street, a containment area in Mylapore. The department has decided to deploy more such robots in other areas.
