Bengaluru: Karnataka government scouted for educational institutions to keep beds ready as most beds in the important hospitals are occupied by COVID-19 patients, who are asymptomatic. The state government has planned to convert even hostels belonging to educational institutions to treat not-so-critical patients at the temporary ‘COVID Care Centres’.

However, lack of planning and miscommunication has led to confusion at the Bangalore University’s Jnanabharathi campus in Bengaluru. Parents and students are irked with the government to convert the university premises into COVID care centre. Parents and students complained that the decision was announced a day before and today (June 30) they were told to move out. Irked parents and students staged a protest and questioned the university authority as to where the students should go when such decisions are made hastily.
