In a major development related to hospital bed shortage, a scam of blocking beds under asymptomatic patients and selling the same to desperate families has come to light.

After a few complaints in the media, Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya along with MLAs who failed to get beds to patients from their respective families, smelled a rat.

And upon investigation, it came to light that, social worker and her nephew and others were involved in this racket for profit.

It is said that beds in private hospitals were booked under the asymptomatic patients' names, while these patients stayed under home quarantine, the same beds were allocated to desperate families for double the amount.

As per reports over 4,000 such beds were blocked and he believes that BBMP officials were hand in glove in this scam and suspects the role of private hospitals in this scam.

In one such case, bed was booked for 12 times for an asymptomatic patient while he was under home quarantine and demanded a detailed probe into the incident.

The MP along with BJP MLAs barged into the war room and confronted the Nodal officer Tulasi Madineni and demanded an explanation of the scam that took place in Covid war room.

Meanwhile two people have been arrested and now the CCB police have taken up the case and are probing social worker Nethravathy and her Nephew. Now, BBMP officials are in the process of setting their software right to prevent such anomalies from taking place in the future.
