Angels of Mercy volunteers do last rites of man as family is stuck in Bengal
Angels of Mercy had grabbed headlines for ensuring a dignified send off for COVID-19 victims. Today they are back in news for performing the last rites of a COVID negative person as his family couldn’t come to Bengaluru due to travel restrictions
Bengaluru: Volunteers of Angels of Mercy performed final rites as per Hindu customs to Sudeep Saha whose family is stuck in West Bengal. Experiencing chest pain, Saha was rushed to a hospital from his paying guest accommodation in Bengaluru. He was declared brought dead at the hospital.
A day after this, Saha's kin called up Angels of Mercy volunteers perform the last rites. Without thinking twice the Angels of Mercy volunteers reached the spot, collected the body and conducted last rites of the man they have never met before. The last rites were conducted as per instructions from the family and the priest and the ashes was immersed in a river.
Mercy Angels grabbed headlines after the six-member team of volunteers including a doctor, a wing of NGO Mercy Mission, were giving COVID-19 victims a dignified funeral.
