With lockdown in place, it is a big blow to farmers as their produce is rotting. In some cases, few farmers have committed suicide as well.

To address this challenge, HS Ramesh, a social activist and local BJP leader in Bengaluru has used his network among farmers from Kolar and Huskur near Electronic City to procure tonnes of vegetables and distribute them in HAL and Vignananagar surrounding.

As the president of fruits and vegetables market association, Ramesh was encouraged by urban development minister Byrathi Basavaraj.

As there is no transportation allowed due to lockdown, tonnes of vegetables may have remained rotten with farmers incurring losses. Now with the vegetables being purchased by Ramesh, there is some hope for farmers.
