Shejil, the accused in the Vadakara hit-and-run case that left a nine-year-old girl, Drishana, in a coma, has been arrested at Coimbatore airport based on a lookout circular.
After nine months of investigation, the police have identified the vehicle responsible for hitting Drishana, a 9-year-old girl from Vadakara, in a hit-and-run accident. Drishana has been in a coma since the accident, which occurred on February 17 at Chorode on the national highway.
Dr. Sreekutty and Ajmal have been denied bail and remanded to 14-day judicial custody for allegedly hitting and killing 25-year-old Kunjumol with their car in Mynagapally on September 17. After striking the victim, they reportedly drove over her body and fled the scene.
The car involved in the fatal accident in Mynagappally, Kollam which led to the death of P. Kunjumol (45), had an expired insurance policy at the time of the incident. The vehicle, registered as KL 23 Q 9347, was uninsured as its policy had lapsed on September 13.
Kollam hit-and-run case: Dr. Sreekutty and Ajmal, who were involved in the hit-and-run accident, regularly drank alcohol at their rented house near Karunagappally railway station. The accident occurred on Thiruvonam day after they had been drinking at a friend's house.
The Legal Services Authority has intervened to help the family of 9-year-old Drishana, who was left in a coma after a hit-and-run accident in February. Despite six months passing, the police have failed to find the car or driver, sparking outrage.
According to reports, Mihir admitted to driving the vehicle during the fatal crash that claimed the life of Kaveri Nakhwa (45), who was riding pillion on a scooter. Her husband, Pradeep Nakhwa, who was driving, sustained injuries in the accident.
Mihir Shah was arrested for allegedly ramming his luxury car, BMW, into a two-wheeler, resulting in the death of a woman identified as Kaveri Nakhwa in Worli, Mumbai on Sunday (July 7).
In addition to Mihir Shah, the police also arrested Rajesh Shah and the driver, Rajrishi Singh Bidawat, who was reportedly in the BMW at the time of the accident. Rajesh Shah was later granted bail by a Mumbai court.
This development by the BMC follows a search and subsequent sealing of the bar by Mumbai Police on Tuesday. Shah and his friends allegedly visited the bar on Saturday night, just hours before the hit-and-run incident.
