A video of Sherin Mathews, from the day he was adopted from the orphanage in Bihar, has surfaced on the media. It can be seen that both Wesley and Sini were extremely happy to receive the kid.
The couple had visited the orphanage with their elder child to get Sherin home. Like any other child who is not happy to be in the hands of strangers, little Sherin too looks terrified and is not pleased to be in the hands of her adoptive parents.
However, Wesley's are delighted and can be seen trying to get close to her and gain her attention.
In a report filed by the authorised foreign service agency, which was overseeing the case of Sherin in the US, with the Child Adoption Resource Authority (CARA) in India, she was mentioned as a pleasant child. The report also quotes her mother saying that Sherin was perfect for the family but displaying eating concerns.
The reports recording her progress had repeatedly mentioned that the girl was adjusting well with her new family and appeared more secure and comfortable.
However, the social worker who visited the family had reported that the child liked to eat food outside but not at home and feeding her was becoming more and more challenging for the family.
The three-year-old went missing on October 7, and her body was recovered after a fortnight of searches. Wesley Mathews was arrested on October 23 and was found to be giving conflicting statements to the police.
