Thanks to Kochi Metro ride memes, 'Kummanam' is now a word in Malayalam
- Social media users questioned the logic behind allowing Kummanam Rajasekharan, who is not even a panchayat ward member, to travel with the PM and other dignitaries
- Some of the jokes have become so popular that 'Kummanam' and variations of the word have now become synonyms for making an appearance without prior notice
- The trolls were kicked off by no one other than the Kerala Chief Minister's office, by uploading a photo of the metro ride after conveniently cropping out Kummanam
BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan's ride with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the launch of the Kochi Metro on Saturday had triggered a controversy, after an LDF minister alleged it was a "security breach".Â
Social media users also questioned the logic behind allowing Kummanam, who is not even a panchayat ward member, to travel with the PM, Chief Minister Pinaryi Vijayan and other dignitaries. Kummanam responded to the allegations saying he had gained permission from the PM's Special Protection Group and the state police, and that he was invited by the PM's office.
However, Kummanam's response did not stop witty Internet users from making memes and jokes which sent social media into overdrive. Some of the jokes have become so popular that 'Kummanam' and variations of the word have now become synonyms for making an appearance without prior notice or going somewhere uninvited, like marriages for instance.
Let's take a look at some of the Kummanam memes which have gained popularity. Disclaimer: Asianet Newsable does not endorse any of the views expressed here.
