The Saudi police arrested the daily wage worker, who hails from Karuvarakundu in Malappuram, around a month ago, after acting on a general petition against his Facebook post, according to a Times of India report.

The youth was taken into custody by the police after a detailed interrogation by the Saudi cyber wing and has now been lodged in a jail in Riyadh. It is understood that the case would be considered by a local court in two weeks.
A representative of the Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre (KMCC) in Riyadh stated that they would provide the necessary legal support to the youth.

“Though he initially denied, he later confessed to the crime. He says that the post was uploaded by mistake as he was not quite familiar using a touchscreen phone with a small display. However, it is considered a serious offence here,“ the report quoted KMCC's Sidhiq Thuvvur as saying.
Another Malayalee and an Uttar Pradesh native in Saudi were recently handed two-month long imprisonments for similar charges, Sidhiq revealed.
