'Sanatan religion followers plotting against Lingayats by using the word Hindu'

Speaking at a meeting at Tontadarya Kalyana Kendra on Thursday called to discuss about the massive rally organised on Nov 5 at Hubli, the Swami said all these years they cheated us by using the word Hindu and they will continue to do so in future also.
Basavanna was defeated not Christians and Muslims but Sanatanis. There are historical documents of carnage of those who wore saffron and Rudraksh. Even now, at a time when Lingayats are agitating to get independent religion status the Sanatanis are yet again trying to divide the community. Hence Lingayats must study the history well, he urged.
Meanwhile, Kudala Sangama Jayamruthyunjaya Swamy said Shamanuru Shivashankarappa has alleged that he joined the separate religion agitation only lured by cash and car and demanded that Shamanuru should provide proof of his allegations. Â
He said he has accepted Shamanuru’s challenge and if it is proved that he has taken Rs 546 lakh and a car he would take any punishment given to him but in the event it is proved wrong Shamanuru should resign as the president of Veerashaiva Mahasabha and take the punishment he would pronounce said Jayamruthyunjaya Swami.
At Bengaluru senior research scholar Prof Chidananda Murthy said Veerashaiva and Lingayat are not separatebut one and Basavanna is not a Lingayat but an applied scientist of Veerashaiva.  Speaking to newspersons on Thursday he said Basavanna and his associates had condemned the Vedas and the Brahminical society that accepted the caste divide. The Lingayats must not propagate against Basavanna’s doctrine merely for financial facilities, he said.
