Assam's Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, has raised concerns about the "limited outrage" seen for the Northeast region in response to a viral video depicting the horrifying incident of two women being paraded naked in Manipur, an area facing unrest. He questioned why other "brutal crimes" occurring elsewhere were seemingly ignored by what he referred to as the "so-called liberals."

Taking to Twitter, the Assam CM shared news reports from various media outlets highlighting recent incidents of sexual violence against women in different states, ranging from Rajasthan to West Bengal.

"A BJP candidate alleged she was stripped and paraded nude by TMC workers on July 8, 2023," the Assam CM said sharing a news report.
