Karnataka Congress workers exert pressure on Dinesh Gundu Rao to take back his resignation
Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president Dinesh Gundu Rao tendered his resignation taking moral responsibility of the party’s defeat in Karnataka bypolls. However, Shivamogga district Congress committee members are exerting pressure on Dinesh to take back his resignation.
FollowShivamogga: Taking moral responsibility for Congress’ abysmal performance in the Karnataka bypolls, where the party won only 2 of the 15 seats, Karnataka Congress president Dinesh Gundu Rao tendered his resignation on December 9 (Monday).
Lobbying has intensified in the Congress camp after his resignation from the post of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president and reports are rife that trouble shooter DK Shivakumar is lobbying for the post of KPCC president.

However, Shivamogga district Congress committee chairman HS Sundaresh has requested him to take back his resignation.
Dinesh Gundu Rao had campaigned intensively during Karnataka bypolls and had asked the voters to defeat the defectors. However, things didn't turn in their favour, Congress was handed out a humiliating defeat.
Sundaresh requested AICC president Sonia Gandhi not to accept Dinesh Gundu Rao’s resignation and said, “Dinesh Gundu Rao has worked very hard for the party during tough situations. So I request AICC president Sonia Gandhi not to accept his resignation.”
“We worked as a party for the Karnataka bypolls and it is not right for KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao alone to take up the responsibility for the party’s defeat. The reason for the victory of defectors is money power and other reasons. So Dinesh Gundu Rao should take back his resignation,” Sundaresh added.
Sundaresh further said, “Party organisations across the state have worked immensely and the performance is great. Dinesh Gundu Rao’s leadership is much needed to strengthen the party in Karnataka. District Congress committee is in full support of Dinesh Gundu Rao. Not just Shivamogga, other districts too have extended their support to Dinesh Gundu Rao by sending in a letter.”
Sundaresh exerted pressure on Dinesh Gundu Rao and said he should change his decision about resignation and continue as the KPCC president.
