Joy for railway passengers as prices of Rajdhani Shatabi may fall soon

If seats are going to remain unreserved in premium trains like Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto, then the Indian Railways will sell tickets at prices lower than the base fares. This is indeed a good news for the passengers, who mostly avail these premium trains for travelling.

Passengers have been availing flights for long distances and buses for the short ones. This decision of the Railway Ministry might just help them regain the faiths of the passengers.

However, railway minister Suresh Prabhu has asked the traffic officials to work on this issue so that none of the berths in these premium trains goes empty. Prabhu has also instructed to carry out price sensitivity analyses for all the premium passenger trains.

The decision is yet to be taken but this is a possibility. Prabhu has even stated it is not necessary that fares will only increase. It can be decreased as well when there is very little demand.

Prabhu has felt that if the railways don’t go economical then the railways are going to lose more passengers in near future. Thus, they need to stick to their basics and execute the above-mentioned plan to perfection so that railways thrive.
