The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has criticised West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar for uploading photographs of ailing former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya on Twitter.

The pictures were taken when Jagdeep Dhankar went to meet the communist leader at his home in Kolkata on Saturday (October 24). The Governor tweeted that he went to Mr Buddhadeb Bhattacharya’s house to check on his health and offer Durga puja greetings.

After the visit, the Governor tweeted some photos of himself and his wife inside the house of Buddhadeb Bhattacharya. In one of the pictures, the former West Bengal CM could be seen lying in bed. In the other photographs, Dhankhar could be seen talking to the former chief minister’s wife, Meera Bhattacharya.

The CPM has retorted angrily after the picture of Buddhadeb Bhattacharya was shared by the Governor on twitter.

The CPM tweeted, “Comrade Bhattacharya is an internationally known and commended politician who has served our state for decades with dedication. Photographing him when he is most vulnerable and then publishing them on social media has deeply hurt the sentiments of not only CPM sympathizers spread of all across the globe but also generally people at large. We would appreciate if this pictures were taken down.”

The Governor, however, had not remove the photos from his Twitter page till 1 pm on Monday (October 26).
