Here are 6 reasons why Twitter can remove blue ticks
A few days ago, Twitter removed the blue ticks from Venkaiah Naidu and Mohan Bhagwat, taking the internet by storm. Know why and how Twitter can remove the Blue Ticks.
Lately, the blue ticks were removed from Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat. This took the internet by storm, and following the severe backlash, the blue ticks of these accounts were restored. However, both these removals were compliant with the new policy of Twitter.
The blue tick on the Twitter account is reserved for distinguished accounts and belong to these categories: Government; Companies, brands and non-profit organization; News organizations and journalists; Entertainment; Sports and esports; Activists, organizers, and other influential individuals. However, Twitter can remove the blue ticks or verification badge from the accounts for these reasons.
Change of username: You can change the name of your account, but you cannot change the Twitter handle. Changing your account handle will automatically remove the blue tick.
Inactive or incomplete account: If there is no Twitter activity for months, your Twitter account can become inactive, leading to the loss of your blue tick. This was the case with the accounts of Venkaiah Naidu and Mohan Bhagwat.
Violations: If Twitter finds you violating any of its terms of services, it may immediately suspend your account or remove your blue tick.
No longer in the position: If your verified status was granted based on the part of the power and you no longer are in that position, Twitter may remove your verified status if it so deems it fit.
Violations in Tweets: If your account violates its policy on Tweets, which may include: hateful conduct policy, abusive behaviour, glorification of violence policy, civic integrity policy, private information policy, or platform manipulation, spam policy, etc, it may revoke the verified status of your account.
