Four people, including a nine-year-old boy, who were under treatment for the Nipah virus in Kozhikode have recovered. Health Minister Veena George informed that all four have tested negative and were discharged from NIMS Hospital.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan held a press conference after 7 months on Tuesday(Sep 19) and briefed about Nipah outbreak in Kerala. He said," Nipah is a major problem in the state. The threat of the virus cannot be ruled out though it has been brought under control

Health Minister Veena George informed that the test results of 61 people, including the person who was in close contact with the person who died due to Nipah, turned out to be negative on Monday( Sep 18). As of now, around 200 samples have been tested negative. The Minister said that the central team is satisfied with the defence activities of Kerala.

Karnataka is monitoring travellers from Kerala in the wake of the Nipah virus outbreak in the Kozhikode district. The vehicles coming from Kozhikode, Malappuram and Wayanad districts are being closely monitored. 

Karnataka has heightened surveillance in bordering districts due to the Nipah virus outbreak in Kerala. The government advises against unnecessary travel to affected areas and has implemented fever surveillance checkpoints at entry points. Various measures, including public education, medical supply readiness, and sample testing, aim to prevent the virus from spreading further.
 

The Karnataka government has instructed that unnecessary travel to Kozhikode district should be avoided as amid concern of Nipah cases in Karnataka. The Karnataka government has taken action to enhance surveillance in its border districts.

While the exact cause remains uncertain, samples have been collected for analysis. This outbreak has also deeply affected fruit growers. Route maps of victims' movements have been released to aid investigations.
