London's 'Skipping Sikh', who runs marathons at 75, stuns with latest 26.2 mile feat; video goes viral

The 75-year-old Rajinder Singh, known as 'Skipping Sikh', shared a video after he finished running the 26.2 mile London Marathon. He wrote: "Maybe this may inspire more to take part as I hope to continue running as long as my body allows me."

 75-year-old Rajinder Singh, who has never been to a gym, has gone viral for spreading the message of exercising for better mental health. He is known as the skipping Sikh after his exercise videos encouraged many to take a healthy turn during the lockdown. 

Taking to Twitter, he wrote: "I ran 26.2 miles and this is what happens next @LondonMarathon maybe this may inspire more to take part as I hope to continue running as long as my body allows me. What a blessing to be a part of the most memorable day and a huge congratulations to everyone who took part."

He started skipping at the age of 5 but it's hard to believe he only ran his first marathon in London in 2021 when he was 74 and he does it while making it look all too easy. Even though his wife, who is 72, couldn't finish the marathon, she is confident that it will serve as an inspiration to many others.

Rajinder Singh Harzall was featured in the Queen's Birthday Honours List of 2020 that felicitates recipients for their "outstanding contribution to British society".

In recognition of his contributions to pandemic health and fitness, he was awarded the MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire). He began releasing recordings of himself skipping in the early weeks of the UK lockdown to encourage the elderly to remain active. Along the way, he contributed more than £12,000 to the NHS.
