Video: Coast Guard on standby for Cyclone Nivar

The Indian Coast Guard has deployed 4 offshore patrol vessels at sea with disaster relief items for immediate use in affected areas. 

Officials said that despite the very rough sea conditions, Coast Guard ships were ready to face any adversity and provide succor to the needed.

Severe cyclonic storm Nivar will intensify into a very severe cyclonic storm over the next few hours and cross the coast between Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Wednesday midnight or early Thursday, the India Meteorological Department said.
