Bannerghatta National Park: No beef for carnivores due to lockdown; officials forced to change animal diets

No beef for wild animals at Bannerghatta National Park. Due to beef suppliers not able to get beef following lockdown and vigilantism, the wild animals are being fed with  poultry meat. The officials say the natural feed for wild animals is black cattle that is buffalo and hope to get the regular supplies as they has called for tender

The large carnivorous animals we naturally feed beef. But now due to the (coronavirus) lockdown, we called for supply but we are not getting beef. It is proving costly and also we had called for tenders twice. Now, again we have called for fresh tender and hope to get a beef supplier. As a stopgap arrangement we are giving chicken and also monitoring the health of the animals.
