Don't you dare to spit in public, pay up to Rs 1,000 fine in Noida
The order was issued a day after the Uttar Pradesh government banned spitting in public places and released guidelines aimed at controlling the spread of Covid-19.
Noida: Spitting in public without caring about regulations may not be so easy now with the Noida Authority nnouncing a fine of Rs 500 against first-time offenders and Rs 1,000 for repeat offenders on Monday.
The order was issued a day after the Uttar Pradesh government banned spitting in public places and released guidelines aimed at controlling the spread of Covid-19.
Commissioner (food safety and drug administration) had put a blanket ban on production, storage, distribution and sale of pan masala in the entire state on March 25.
All urban and rural local bodies were asked to enforce the orders and take action against people who were found selling such products discreetly. CEO (Noida Authority) Ritu Maheshwari said that provisions to impose higher penalty on repeat offenders have also been made.
Issuing the directives to public health department officers, a team of three dozen employees was constituted to identify offenders. The number is expected to go up to 50. Noida Authority has also decided to resume drive against people found urinating and defecating in the open in the coming days.
