Kanpur: Eleven more policemen, including PRO of SSP/DIG and a woman LIU inspector, were tested positive for coronavirus in Kanpur in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of Covid -19 patients in the city to 235. With this, the tally of infected policemen in the city reached 24.
"The sample report of tested cops came positive late Saturday night. They all have been admitted to Covid -19 ward of the Lala Lajpat Rai hospital. Till Friday their count was 13, but sudden spike in the number of positive cases among police personnel is worrisome," said chief medical officer Dr Ashok Shukla.

"The entire premises of their offices, besides residential accommodation were sealed off and containment zones designated," said a senior health official. “Frequent disinfection continues to be carried out as per protocol to contain the spread of virus by breaking the chain of transmission," he said.
The SSP/DIG, besides command office premises have been under strict lockdown and stringent quarantine and safety protocols have been enforced for personnel and their families, with door to door screening being undertaken for identification of more cases, he added.
