A surgeon who was secretly operating clinic in Rae Bareli tests positive

FollowLucknow: A paediatric surgeon in Rae Bareli district, who clandestinely operated his nursing home during lockdown, has tested positive for covid-19 and was referred to Lucknow for treatment late Monday. His clinic on Madhuban Road has been sealed and five members of his family and their maid have been quarantined.
Swab samples of 54 doctors and paramedics who came in contact with the surgeon have been collected and they have been quarantined. The doctor will be booked for violating lockdown guidelines, said superintendent of police, Rae Bareli, Swapnil Mamgain.
“We have formed a team to probe how a private clinic continued to operate and whether neighbours were aware about the hush-hush surgeries. The team will also trace patients who visited the clinic for treatment. As per lockdown guidelines, no private nursing home or pathology can stay open,” said Mamgain.
