President Donald Trump was impeached by the U.S. House of Representative on a single charge of incitement of insurrection for his role in the Capitol Hill siege by his supporters that left five people dead. Trump will face a Senate trial next. 

This is the third expansion of the cabinet since Yediyurappa assumed charge in July 2019 after the collapse of the Congress-JD(S) government in the wake of revolt by 17 MLAs of the coalition partners.

On November 30, media reports had surfaced about a letter written by CPI MP Binoy Viswam to Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar claiming that Prasar Bharati was making "concerted efforts" to shut down government-financed radio and television channels. Prasar Bharati has clarified that the allegations are baseless and factually incorrect.
