Bengaluru: Union minister of state for railways Suresh Angadi inaugurated the third entry point at Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna city railway station, Bengaluru on Saturday (June 29).
This new entry point will help the passengers to connect fast from Majestic intersection metro station. An amount of Rs 1.7 crore was spent by the south western railways (SWR) for the third entry which is a total area of 3,500 sqm.
The third entry point includes a parking plot for vehicles, a garden, restrooms and booking office. A report suggested that two lakh passengers traffic can be seen apparently in the railway station.
After the inauguration, Angadi said that the SWR officials are directed to solve the issues like leakage of waste water from railway overbridge when trains pass.
He added that the doubling of tracks around south western railways would help to improve train connectivity to more cities. All railway networks will be connected for fast and convenient movements of trains on the same lines as the golden quadrilateral project, he added.
According to reports, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has not completed the construction of foot overbridge across Gubbi Thotadappa Road. SWR has provided a third entry point, passengers coming from the metro station are still awaiting a skywalk to help them access city railway station safely.
