Nigerian arrested in Bengaluru for attempting to sell cocaine, MDMA worth Rs 3 lakh
The Central Crime Branch officials caught a Nigerian national on Friday late evening for attempting to sell drugs worth Rs 3 lakh. The CCB police were bewildered when they found cocaine, MDMA and ecstasy on his person. These hallucinogenic drugs were primarily sold in the party circuit.
Bengaluru: With increasing complaints from the public and information from sources about drugs being sold in around areas of Bengaluru East like Banaswadi, KR Puram, TC Palya, Horamavu, CCB police arrested one person and found him carrying drugs worth Rs 3 lakh.
According to CCB women and drugs control squad, sources tipped off officials about a possible drug trade and arrested a person who was spotted carrying a bag and hovering anxiously near KR Puram.
"The arrested person has been identified as Joseph Benjamine who hails from Nigeria. 20 grams of cocaine, 9 grams of MDMA and 36 ecstasy pills each measuring 12 grams were seized. The accused was not necessary documents provided by the FRO during the time of his arrest and has hence also violated visa norms," said a senior officer.
Benjamine had come on a study visa and is said to have been involved in selling drugs to students and working professionals. The police have booked him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
