Banks open today to serve elderly own customers

People are losing their sleep over demonetisation. The Indian government has been changing guidelines faster than exchanging notes. The public are becoming seemingly impatient. But the bankers have been working relentlessly to help the civilians in their cause.

The Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) have announced on Friday that all the banks will remain open on Saturday and will be serving their respective customers only. They will not be exchanging the old 500 and 1000 rupee notes from customers of other banks.

IBA chairman Rajeev Rishi said on Friday that their own customers have suffered ever since the decision was announced. He also said that there is a lot of work pending and therefore all the banks will be serving their respective customers only on Saturday.

However, the senior citizens can go to any of the banks and still exchange their old notes on Saturday.

IBA has taken this decision only for Saturday. People can exchange their old notes again from Monday.
