The price of Nandini milk in Karnataka is expected to increase by Rs.3/litre. The government reports say that the new price will be implemented from August 1. This decision was taken when Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah met with the officials of Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF). CM had called upon a meeting in his office,

Krishna and Animal Husbandry Minister Venkatesh, Minister Rajanna, KMF President Bhima Naik, HD Revanna and many other leaders had attended the meeting.

KMF had appealed the government earlier to increase the milk price by Rs.5 to compensate for their loss. Considering their appeal, govt has increased the price by Rs.3/ltr. HD Revanna said that the price of milk, which will be purchased by the farmers will be increased by 3 rupees.

“Currently, KMF produces 86 lakh litres per day, which is lesser than the 94 lakh litres per day, produced last year. Even the farmers have been choosing private firms over KMF for they offer higher prices than KMF. Therefore, we have planned to buy the milk with an increased Rs.3/ltr, so that the farmers stay with KMF” said an official of the KMF.

However, the milk sold by KMF is comparatively cheaper than that of the private firms, as KMF sells at Rs. 39/ltr and private firms for Rs.48 to 52 per litre.

KMF president Bheema Naik said that the new prices will be applicable from August 1. The prices of all types of milk sold through KMF will be applicable to the price increase. The farmers will avail the benefit through this decision,.
