A Bengaluru police sub-inspector has been arrested after a leaked video allegedly exposed the sexual abuse and assault of several minor boys who were detained during a murder investigation. The accused, Praveen, attached to the Amruthahalli police station, was taken into custody on Monday evening after senior police officials initiated action based on the disturbing footage.

According to a senior police officer, Praveen had picked up a group of minor boys for questioning in connection with a murder case reported in Amruthahalli a few months ago. Instead of conducting a lawful investigation, he allegedly took the boys to a secluded location, beat them with a belt, stripped them, and subjected them to abuse, sources said.
"Also, he forced the minor boys to indulge in obscene activities and recorded them on his mobile phone. The video was leaked recently and reached the higher police officials. Acting suo-motu and registering a criminal case against Praveen under Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act-2012, the case was booked in Kothanur police station," a senior police officer said.
Police said Praveen allegedly forced the boys to engage in obscene acts and filmed the incidents on his mobile phone. The videos were leaked recently, eventually reaching senior officers, who ordered immediate action and the registration of a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
"Based on the FIR, Kothanur police arrested Praveen Monday evening and took him to their custody for questioning," the police officer added.
The accused has been remanded to police custody as investigators continue to probe the allegations and examine the leaked videos as part of the investigation.
