Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami outlines the state’s growth vision at ET World Leaders Forum 2026, highlighting UCC, jobs, investment, tourism, infrastructure, border villages, AI and Kumbh 2027.
Chief Minister of UttarakhandPushkar Singh Dhami listed development agenda of the state at The Economic Times World Leaders Forum 2026 in New Delhi, including Uniform Civil Code (UCC), employment, investments, tourism, infrastructure, innovation and development in border areas.
The Chief Minister stated that the development model of Uttarakhand is one which tries to balance economic growth and environment together while also providing opportunities for youth, women, investors and villagers from far off places.
Uniform Civil Code and Good Governance in Uttarakhand
Dhami said implementation of UCC has created positive atmosphere in Uttarakhand and provided rights to women, children and elderly. It is also part of governance reforms being made in the state.
Jobs and Crackdown on Recruitment Fraud
On the issue of employment, he said more than 34,000 youths have got government jobs in the last five years as compared to 16,000 government jobs appointed in the last two decades or so after the state was formed.
Also, the CM talked about measures to stop paper leakages and cheating in recruitment tests and said that around 100 people related to recruitment frauds have been put in jail.
Investment Initiative and Policy Changes
According to Dhami, the 2023 Uttarakhand Global Investors Summit is a game-changing event in relation to the industrial growth of the state. As per him, more than 50 countries have participated in the summit and over 30 new policies have been introduced by the government to facilitate investments in the state.
According to him, the emphasis has been on implementing investments and not just keeping them in MoUs.
Roadways, Railways and Industry Connectivities
The Chief Minister has mentioned some of the connectivities initiatives which includes the nearly 125-kilometer long Rishikesh-Karnaprayag railway line and the Economic Corridor between Delhi and Dehradun.
He also emphasized that Haridwar is an important centre of industries while Pantnagar in Udham Singh Nagar is emerging as an important agriculture and industrial hub. The proposed greenfield Pantnagar Airport would help in this regard.
Tourism and Winter Tourism Get a Boost
Dhami said that the sector of tourism is considered a major sector of the economy of Uttarakhand. According to government statistics, more than 47 lakh devotees have visited during the first phase of the Char Dham yatra while 4.80 crore devotees took part in the Kanwar Yatra.
Uttarakhand is developing areas for adventure and winter tourism in order to create economic activities throughout the year. For instance, Harshil-Mukhwa will act as a major destination of winter tourism and help the sector of homestays, hotels, transporters, and other enterprises.
Development of Border Villages and Innovation
According to Dhami, the government is developing border villages under its 'First Village' policy in terms of connectivity, tourism, and economic activities.
He further stated that Uttarakhand is paying special attention to artificial intelligence, science, technology, and innovation and therefore its innovation policy has been formulated in order to promote advanced technology in all sectors. The Chief Minister added that the preparations have been made for the Haridwar Kumbh scheduled to be held in January 2027.
